He is a civil servant from Central Secretariat Service (CSS) 1988. At present he is Joint Secretary, Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice since January 2017. He is Mission Director for the National Mission for Justice Delivery and Legal Reforms. He is driving policy reforms for improving Enforcing Contracts parameter under the ease of doing business and eCourts Project. Earlier, he was Joint Secretary in Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, New Delhi. There, he also held additional charge of Director General, National Productivity Council (NPC) from December 2015 to May 2016. He is former Registrar of Copyrights of the Indian Copyright office. He played a key role in introduction of the recent amendments to the Copyright Act in 2012 and the Copyright rules, 2013.

He attended many WIPO SCCR meetings and FTA negotiations as a member of Indian Delegation. He made significant contributions to recently concluded two WIPO treaties namely, Beijing Treaty on Audiovisual Performances, 2012 and the Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Persons who are Blind, Visually Impaired or Otherwise Print Disabled, 2013. He has contributed in revision of the Copyright legislations of Bhutan, Kampuchea, Myanmar and Nepal as a copyright expert.

As a resource person he gives lectures/talks on Copyrights and related rights in various International and National seminars and workshops organized by WIPO and by several Law Schools, Universities and Institutes all over India. At present he is pursuing PhD (IPRs) from GGSIP University, New Delhi. He holds several degrees and post graduate degrees namely, M.A. Development Studies (Public Policy and Management) from Institute of Social Studies (ISS), the Hague, the Netherlands. M.A.(Gold Medallist) and M.Phil (Ancient History and Archaeology) from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He was a JRF scholar of UGC as well. He holds a LLB degree from Delhi University and LL.M. (IPRs) from GGSIP University, New Delhi. He also holds bachelor’s degree in Library and Information sciences (B.L.Sc.) and B.Sc degree from Osmania University, Hyderabad.


Presently working as an Assistant Professor of Law with Amity Law School, Amity University, Noida, Uttar Pradesh. She completed her LLM from Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. She is an alumnus of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University in her BA LLB (Hons.) Programme. Her areas of interest include Intellectual property Laws, Cyber Laws and Constitutional Law. She has also worked in the corporate sector in various capacities.

She has published many research papers in various reputed journals. She has also presented papers in various national and international conferences. She has been the Convener of Multi-disciplinary conferences at Amity Law School, Noida. She is also the editor of three books.

He has worked in the Indian Patent office for last 37 years and held various positions. He was holding the post of Senior Joint Controller of Patents & Designs and headed the Delhi Patent Office including the Indian ISA/IPEA. He was superannuated recently on 31st July 2019. He is a post graduate in Organic Chemistry, thereafter he studied Law from University of Delhi and completed his Ph.D in Intellectual Property Right.

When India joined WTO and TRIPS, he played an integral role in amending the Patents Act 1970 in the year 1999, 2002 and 2005 and revision in the Patents Rules. He was also one of the members of task force constituted for Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (TKDL) for protecting Indian Traditional Knowledge and played an important role in designing the structure for electronically capturing the information in the Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (TKDL) and Traditional Knowledge Resource Classification (TKRC) by assigning the International Classification in order to make the TKDL searchable.

He conducted 6 months research study in Japan about utility model and its economic and technological significance to India under WIPO sponsored program. He has widely traveled to the Patent offices of many countries such as USPTO, EPO, JPO, SIPO, GPTO, MyIPO,etc to understand their IPR System.

He has published several papers in various reputed journals on Intellectual Property Rights. He has participated and delivered lectures in several international and national seminars, workshops and symposia organized in the filed of Intellectual Property Rights. He has been actively involved in the preparation of Manual of Patent Office Practice and Procedure (MPOPP), Patent Office Practice (POP for internal working, Examination guidelines for the inventions relating to Biotechnology, Traditional Knowledge and Pharmaceuticals).


He specializes in Intellectual Property matters (Prosecution/Opposition). He has advised diverse clientele that range from Liquor, Pharmaceutical, Apparel, Media, Educational Solution and Service Providers, Food and Beverage, Energy, Petrochemicals, Textiles, Natural Resources to Telecommunication Industry.

He received his law degree from Symbiosis Law School, Pune and thereafter graduated from prestigious Queen Mary, University of London, where he pursued Masters in Law (LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law). Shhaurya started as an intern, followed by position as a researcher cum para-legal in a boutique law firm based out of London specializing in commercial litigation and Intellectual Property viz. Innovate Legal. Before joining the Intellectual Property practice Shhaurya was actively involved in academics and was a faculty of Intellectual Property Laws at the National Law University, Patna, which further fine-tuned his nuances of the subject matter. Having interned in prestigious companies along with working in both Indian and International law firms, he brings on the table a unique combination of skill sets to his legal expertise along with a client friendly approach.

He has extensively advised clients on the registrability of Trademarks after conducting thorough search and providing opinions for the availability for use and registration of Trademarks, Service Marks, Geographical Indications, Trade names, Domain names, etc., based on searches at the TM Registry’s database, Whols search, MCA database search, online investigations, market enquiries and surveys. He further advises clients on availability for exclusive use of marks and likelihood of registration, of successfully overcoming an objection/challenge by Examiner or chances of Opposition on proposed marks and of successfully challenging any third party against infringing use.

Apart from Prosecution and Opposition, he also assists clients vis-a-vis enforcement actions such as sending Cease and Desist Notices, Legal Notices, conducting on-site investigations, registering marks and copyrighted work with custom authorities to prevent import of infringing/pirated products, conducting negotiations, sending notices to ISPs (Internet Service Providers), and taking suitable steps before concerned authority such as the Trademarks Registry, Copyright Board, the IPAB (Intellectual Property Appellate Board), etc.

He actively advises clients on Intellectual Property transactional issues and is a trusted advisor to various reputed clients.


He, is the founder and principal at RSR Legal, Advocates, and specializes in Intellectual Property Laws, Media and Entertainment Laws, Information Technology Laws, among others. He advises clients ranging from start-ups to multi-national corporations. He has expertise in handling all aspects of prosecution, litigation and enforcement, which are related to trademarks, copyrights, patents and designs.   Over the years, he has represented clients and has appeared in Courts all over India in trademark, copyright, disparagement as well as design matters, and has also appeared in matters relating to winding-up, anti- suit injunctions, commercial recovery suits among others. He has experience in criminal enforcement, and customs as well as drafting complex agreements.

He has previously been associated with two IP boutique firms in New Delhi for over 9 years and is a member of the Delhi High Court Bar Association a n d International Trademark Association (INTA). Mr. Rohatgi is currently serving as the Vice-Chair of the Indigenous Rights Committee at INTA. He holds a Masters’ Degree in Law from Queen Mary, University of London, with a specialization in Intellectual Property Rights Laws, Arbitration and Commercial Litigation.

He has undertaken a research project in the area of traditional knowledge. He has graduated from Institute of Law, Nirma University with specialisation in Intellectual Property Laws. In his short professional career he has been Advisory on various issues related to Intellectual Property Rights to clients across the Industry. He has been also a part of Book Review panel for Corporate Insolvency Law and Bankruptcy Reform in Global Economy.

The company is into Trademark registration and litigation arising out of conflict/infringement of trademarks, copyrights etc. She is personally serving as a Legal Consultant of various International Companies and has been practicing Corporate Law.
